RAFAEL CUARTIELLES

Painter (Barcelona, 1932 - 2018)

Studies of technical drawing in Escola de les Arts i Oficis de Barcelona (la Llotja). During 1979 and 1998 he was a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the UB.

 

Between 1962 and 1964 he studied at the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris on a scholarship from the Barcelona Provincial Council.

 

The first successes appear in 1959 when he exhibited at the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc alongside Pablo Picasso, Antoni Tàpies, Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí, Pere Falcó, Josep Mundet, among others. In 1962 he won the FIRST PRIZE for painting from the Barcelona Provincial Council.

In 2005, he was awarded the FIRST PRIZE for painting (Belles Arts Sant Jordi) by the Catalan Països, Fundació Perelló.

 

In 2011 he participates in the International Contemporary Art Fair in Irún. He has exhibited in Paris, Miami, Japan, Itàlia. He has work represented in "The Florida Museum of Hispanic and Latin American Art”.
