RAFAEL CUARTIELLES
  Painter (Barcelona, 1932 - 2018)

Technical drawing studies at the Escola de les Arts i Oficis de Barcelona (la Llotja). During 1979 and 1998 he worked as a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UB.

Between 1962 and 1964 he studied at the Superior School of Fine Arts in Paris on a grant from the Barcelona Provincial Council.

His first successes appeared in 1959 when he exhibited at the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc alongside Pablo Picasso, Antoni Tàpies, Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí, Pere Falcó, Josep Mundet among others. In 1962 he won the FIRST PRIZE for painting from the Barcelona Provincial Council.


In 2005 he was recognized with the FIRST PRIZE for painting (Belles Arts Sant Jordi) of the Països Catalans, Fundació Perelló.

In 2011 he participated in the International Contemporary Art Fair in Irún. He has exhibited in Paris, Miami, Japan, Italy. His work is represented in "The Florida Museum of Hispanic and Latin American Art".
